Prepared veg supplier Mash Direct is casting its eyes overseas after a successful year that saw it secure a nationwide listing with Asda worth £3m a year and hit a record turnover of £14m.
MD Martin Hamilton said the company was now targeting further growth, with turnover forecast to rise £2m over the next six months (compared with £2m over 12 months last year). It has won export deals to UAE and Bahrain, and two US retailers are interested in its GM-free veg burgers. “Securing the agreement with Asda has focused our efforts on trade with closer shores this year, but we’re still as keen as ever to capitalise on overseas demand for our dishes,” he said, with strong interest in the brand’s range from two US retailers for its vegetable burgers, where its GMO-free status was a “major USP”.
