Northern Irish prepared veg supplier Mash Direct has taken its first steps into the ready-to-eat salad pot segment, after launching a trio of new products into Nisa.
The range consists of Home-Style Potato Salad, Coronation Coleslaw and Home-Style Coleslaw in 200g pots (rsp: £1.50) and will be sold in the fresh food aisles of Nisa stores.
The supplier said the products would enable it to meet the current consumer demand for health and wellness-focused products, while also tapping into a volume increase in salad purchases last year, which grew by 6.7% [Kantar 52 w/e 11 August 2019].
The pots also met demand for higher-quality ready meals, the supplier added, citing market research by Streetbees last year which found that 67% of consumers were willing to spend more on such products.
“We have seen an increased demand for high-quality, healthy vegetable-based dishes,” said Mash Direct chief operations officer Jack Hamilton.
“We believe the range will support a number of summer eating occasions, from easy lunches for those working from home, to delicious accompaniments for summer backyard barbeques or picnics.”
