Kerry Foods is extending its Mattessons portfolio beyond the teen-targeted Fridge Raiders with the launch of premium adult meat snack range Savagers.
The range goes on sale nationally on 6 September and consists of Smoked Salami and Classic Chorizo flavoured cured meat sticks made from 100% prime pork (rsp: £1.69 for multipacks and 79p for singles).
Mattessons senior brand manager Hayley Murgett said Savagers would help meat snacking become a “destination in store”, and was designed to tap the 19.5% growth in the sale of cooked meats such as chorizo [Nielsen 52 w/e 15 August], as well as growing consumer appetite for protein. “With 6g of protein in every stick of Savagers our new range will provide consumers with that healthier alternative that they constantly seek,” she added.
“We know that adult snacking is worth five times that of kids snacking , this new range will drive incremental sales in the category for retailers by broadening category appeal amongst adults aged 22 to 32 who currently under index against the category,” Murgett said.
