Discount store Max 99p has opened a second store in a residential area of Peterborough and has announced plans to open another three stores this year.
The store’s aim is to provide “great brands at great prices” and stocks products including Nivea, Coca-Cola and Cadbury.
The first Max 99p store opened in Chelmsford in December 2013. The company is targeting a further 10 stores by 2015.
“We have plans to grow the brand and are interested in opening up in out-of-town areas and market towns rather than city-centre locations,” said Dean Saunders, spokesman for Max 99p Ltd. “[By locating in residential areas] we felt that we could bring something new to people in the surrounding areas and provide new jobs for back-to-work mums and students.”
The 4,500 sq ft store in Peterborough has created 20 jobs, the company said.
Max 99p Ltd is currently searching for more sites between 3,000 and 6,000 sq ft in the Midlands and the south of England.
