Confectioner Maxons has created Head Splitters - a sweet designed “to make your eyes water and your lips pucker”.

Rolling out this month, the sweet features a sour lemon casing enclosing a “wickedly” sour centre and is available in packs of 20 boxes, each containing four sweets (rsp: 30p).

“We aimed for it to be a sweet you would buy even you if hated it to inflict pain on your friends,” said Maxons MD Richard Pitchfork.
