McCain has launched Skin-on Fries – the frozen brand’s latest NPD inspired by out-of-home dining.
Rolling out this month, the new product (rsp: £2.50/800g) joins Peri Peri Fries, Sweet Potato Fries and Triple Cooked Gastro Chips in a portfolio aimed at adult consumers to encourage them to trade up from regular frozen chips. The lineup has so far sold 7.4 million packs since launch [IRI 52 w/e 28 January 2017].
Adult households were looking increasingly for restaurant-style accompaniments in grocery, said McCain marketing director Mark Hodge.
“Choice is ever-increasing when it comes to out-of-home dining,” he added. “Consumers now often have a whole menu of chips and fries options to select from. As the leading retail potato brand, we want to replicate that experience in the home.”
