McCain has announced the launch of two potato ranges: Triple Cooked Gastro Chips and Ridged Wedges.
The chips (rsp: £2.50/700g) are thick-cut British potatoes prepared with ‘luxury’ beef dripping, and have ‘roughed up’ edges.
Available this month, the NPD is intended to offer consumers an in-home version of ‘proper pub chips’, and is the latest addition to McCain’s adult-focused portfolio of frozen meal solutions for smaller households.
Also rolling out in September, the new wedges (rsp: £2/600g) – targeted at families – come in two variants: Nacho Cheese and Smoky Paprika. The ridge cut helps to enhance the flavour and adds a point of differentiation, according to McCain
“Wedges often feature as a side-of-plate accompaniment, but there’s a big opportunity to highlight the sharing occasion in this category,” added marketing director Mark Hodge.
