KP Snacks is giving its McCoy’s Chips range a push with a new When Flavour Calls ad spot.
Making its TV debut today (27 April), the 20-second commercial is set in a traditional fish & chip shop on Brighton seafront. The protagonist, Sarah, receives a call from the mysterious Flavour character via the familiar golden telephone. After sampling Chips, she is alarmed to notice seagulls are eyeing her bagged snack.
Backed by a £2m investment including outdoor and sampling, the advert will run until 10 May, positioning Chips – launched last September – as “the love child of the chip and crisp”. It is the latest addition to the When Flavour Calls campaign, which kicked off last year.
“Seagulls love their chips, so who better to recruit for our new McCoy’s Chips ad than our cheeky seaside friends?” said Dan Winslet, marketing controller for KP Snacks.
McCoy’s value sales have risen 16.2% to £122.9m, on volumes up 12.9% [IRI 52 w/e 25 February 2017].
