McGee’s Butchers has reported a strong first year for its concessions in Asda stores and expects end-of-year sales to reach £10m.

McGee’s, which sells locally sourced fresh cuts as well as meat prepared and packed for cooking, said its best sellers were oven-ready meal options.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by its success,” said George Rankin, GSM for Asda Westwood.

McGee’s took over Asda’s butcher concessions in 11 Northern Irish stores last August and plans to open counters in its remaining six.
