Forsyth Black has been appointed managing director of Menzies Distribution.
Black will take the helm of the newstrade wholesaler on 1 June, replacing David McIntosh, who revealed in January he was stepping down after 25 years at the company.
Black has worked at Menzies Distribution’s parent company John Menzies for more than 14 years, mostly in its aviation arm. He is currently senior vice president of Africa, Middle East and India.
Menzies said Black, who joins the senior executive team but not the PLC board, had successfully led the development of the aviation business into India and Africa and had experience in growing businesses from start-ups.
He will work with McIntosh to ensure a smooth transition.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Forsyth,” said John Menzies chairman Iain Napier.
“We will work closely together over the coming months and I have no doubt his skill and enthusiasm will be an asset to the business.”
McIntosh joined Menzies in 1989 as group financial analyst. He went on to hold the roles of finance director and commercial and marketing director, before becoming MD.
He is leaving to “pursue other interests”.
