Not content with humiliating us at football, the Germans have now launched an assault on one of our national delicacies – the Jaffa Cake.
German food giant Bahlsen will be on the offensive in the UK next week when it launches a new TV advertising campaign tempting consumers to ditch the McVitie’s biscuit for its oblong Messino equivalent.
The company claims independent research shows that seven in 10 UK foodies were more likely to buy their version of the snack.
“Our Messino cake delivers a moment of intense Jaffa joy,” said Jon Dance, marketing manager of Bahlsen UK.
