Metro Group has launched the first phase of its RFID roll-out, working with 20 key suppliers to source tagged products for 270 stores. Participating manufacturers include Colgate-Palmolive, Nestlé and Procter & Gamble. Separately, the company’s cash & carry arm has opened a training centre in Shanghai, China that will handle staff development for its four business units in the country. The centre incorporates a 150m training kitchen and is one of four training campuses designed to be flagship sites for a global management tutoring network. The other three are in Düsseldorf, Paris and Moscow.
