M&S has taken a less-is-more approach to fresh produce retailing by launching one of the world's smallest pears.
The Bambinella pears are just 25mm to 45mm wide and no bigger than a large cherry. They have never previously been sold in the UK, but went on sale in a number of stores last week (rsp: £2.49 for 220g).
This year's crop is imported from Malta, but M&S's suppliers plan to grow the pear in Kent next year. The fruit are described as being particularly sweet, with a slightly crunchy texture.
