The DTC company has seen a 286% increase in doorstep delivery of fruit & veg boxes

Brits are turning away from overpackaged fruitvegetables and choosing more sustainable alternatives, according to Milk & More.

The DTC company has seen a 286% increase in doorstep delivery of fruit & veg boxes and said customers in their thousands were opting to go ‘naked’ when it came to buying fresh fruit & vegetables.

It claims shoppers are switching from supermarkets, which are known for excessive packaging on many everyday fruit & vegetables including apples, oranges, peppers and carrots.

Milk & More has seen such strong demand – with more than 2,500 boxes delivered in the past week – that it has had to order in 50% more produce from its growers to keep up.

“Our customers already know us for delivering fresh British milk in sustainable glass bottles using a fleet of electric milk vans, but now thousands are turning to Milk & More for convenient delivery of their fruit & veg without the unnecessary plastic they really don’t want,” said chief customer officer Jessica Nijjar.

“Our selection of organic fruit & vegetables brings the best of the farmers’ market straight to the doorstep, making healthy, home-cooked meals simple and convenient, and drastically reducing the amount of plastic compared to buying packaged produce from the supermarkets.”

It comes as Wrap has urged the government to ban supermarkets from unnecessarily packaging everyday fruits & vegetables, saying that 78% of consumers it surveyed would prefer to buy loose produce.
