Milk Link has claimed the upgrade of its Oswestry packing plant will offer its customers the most flexible automated technology in the UK cheese market.
The last piece of equipment to go into the upgraded production facility will be installed this weekend. It marks the final stage of the £3.6m two-phase Project Vision. The first phase was completed last June, adding modern slicing and flow-wrap lines.
The phase two improvements will allow production to be switched between different products in just 10 minutes. Scanning technology will ensure the accuracy of on-pack product information as well as online leak detection.
Milk Link claimed both of these would lead to improved quality performance. "Our customers will benefit from greater production capacity, even higher service levels and innovative packing solutions," it said.
