New kids’ ready meal brand Mini Nom Nom’s is to launch a range of exotic dishes in Ocado this spring.
Pitched as ‘home-cooked style’, the five-strong line up goes on sale early in May and includes North Indian Tiny Tiffin with butter chicken and hidden vegetables, Moroccan Tiny Tagine with fruity chickpea and carrot, and Malaysian Little Laksa with coconut lemongrass chicken (rsp: £3.75/250g).
The meals come in multi-compartment packaging so youngsters can experiment with food by either mixing, dipping or pouring. “We set out to address a gap in the market for children’s ready meals with strong health credentials,” said Lisa Sohanpal, who set up and self-funded the business with her husband.
Manufactured by Bombay Halwa, the meals contain at least one of a child’s 5 a day and no added salt, sugar, additives or preservatives. “We felt it was important to ensure no salt was added to any of the meals,” added Sohanpal. “Instead, the blend of spices and flowers [rose petals] enables us to ensure each dish is sufficiently flavoursome.”
The brand is supporting its ‘ambitious growth plan’ with a marketing and PR push including sponsorship of the Big Top at this year’s Big Feastival.
