Mondelez has promoted Jay Cooper to the role of president for Northern Europe.
Cooper will be responsible for the confectionery giant’s businesses in the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
He assumed the role last month from his previous position as Mondelez’s senior vice president of growth for North America.
Since joining the business in 2008, Cooper had “successfully led biscuit, chocolate, and confectionery businesses both in the US and internationally”, said Mondelez.
He brought to the role “a consistent track record of commercial performance, building the company’s marketing capabilities, delivering top-tier marketing activity and producing best-in-class digital and social marketing”, it added.
Cooper replaces Clive Jones, who has taken on a new role within the business as president for central Europe, EU central sales & global licensing.
Cooper said he was “delighted to lead one of Northern Europe’s largest, most admired companies, home to iconic brands including Cadbury, Oreo and Freia”.
The business continued to deliver “strong growth year on year, investing in our operations, colleagues and best-loved brands”, he said.
“I’m looking forward to building on this success, responding to changing customer expectations in a dynamic policy environment,” Cooper added.
