Morrisons has confirmed its appointment of Prudential's UK marketing director Angus McIver to its board as group marketing and communications director - the company's first board-level marketing position.
Although the retailer would not confirm any further details, it is understood that McIver will spearhead its £450m brand makeover and oversee the work of marketing services director Michael Bates.
Steve Colton, director of PR at Prudential UK, said McIver would remain with the company for the next six weeks before leaving for Bradford to take up his new position.
He said McIver was attracted to the role because of its proximity to Scotland, where he spends a lot of time. "Angus wasn't looking to move on, but he has family and friends in Scotland and a passion for walking so this is a great role for him," he added.
Prior to his four years at Prudential, McIver worked for Walkers Snacks, owned by PepsiCo.
