She will take on the newly-create role next month

Morrisons has hired former Unitas retail director Victoria Lockie as head of wholesale, strategic projects and acquisitions, The Grocer can reveal.

She will take on the newly created role next month, reporting to Morrisons convenience director Paul Dobson. She will be responsible for supporting the growth of its wholesale business and franchisees.

Morrisons said she was “well versed” for the role given her experience in the wholesale and convenience sector. She held the role at Unitas for six months after leaving in April, which was revealed exclusively by The Grocer.

Before then, Lockie had various senior roles at Nisa for 12 years, including head of retail and head of key accounts.

“We’re delighted to be welcoming Victoria to our team as we continue to support our new and existing franchise partners,” said Dobson.

“Her extensive experience in this sector makes her a great addition to our team and will enable Morrisons to strike new partnerships nationally so that we can bring Morrisons Daily to more consumers.”

Lockie added: “I’m very excited about joining Morrisons and contributing to the continued expansion of the business.

“Having spent 30 years working with and listening to some of the best independent retailers across Britain and Ireland, I look forward to utilising that knowledge and experience to help optimise the opportunities that exist for the benefit and growth on both sides of future Morrisons wholesale partnerships.”
