Morrisons has teamed up with Just Eat and a local Indian restaurant to launch a new in-store takeaway in one of its Bradford stores.
Shoppers at the supermarket’s Victoria Shopping Centre store will have the choice to collect their order from the Bombay Bites Express at the end of their shop, or eat in-store from Saturday.
The restaurant’s menu will also be available via Just Eat, and customers can order for collection or delivery.
“We have listened to the customers who shop in our Victoria store and they told us they’d love a takeaway service as an extra reason to shop with us,” said Morrisons director of local solutions Rebecca Singleton.
Bombay Bites Express, part of the family-run Bradford-based Bombay Bites group, will employ 10 people, and open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 9.30am to 4pm on Sundays.
Indian breakfast, a selection of curries, Indian rolls and dosas, and a choice of Indian and British classic desserts will form part of the menu.
Hot and cold drinks, including yoghurt drink fruit lassis, will also be available to order.
“We are thrilled that we have the opportunity to partner with large and trusted brands such as Morrisons and Just Eat, so we can really bring something new into the food industry,” said Bombay Bites director Samir Kader.
“I have enjoyed these authentic recipes for years now, and am happy that we can share this taste now with the rest of the UK. Like always, we will strive to continuously innovate and hope that one day we can become the trusted brand for Indian Food throughout the UK.”
Just Eat UK MD Graham Corfield said: “At Just Eat we love innovation. We have over 27,000 restaurant partners across the UK, but this is the first to open inside a supermarket.”
