Morrisons has secured an ethical stamp of approval guaranteeing its personal care and cosmetic ranges are free from animal testing.
The supermarket’s beauty products have been certified by Cruelty-Free International under the Humane Cosmetics Standard and will start to carry the organisation’s ‘leaping bunny’ logo from the summer.
The retailer also hopes to extend certification across its range of household goods under the Humane Household Products Standard.
Morrisons stressed it had never tested products on animals, but initiated the move to reflect that “ethical shoppers recognise the leaping bunny as a trusted logo”.
“We have been clear in our opposition to animal testing for many years,” said Morrisons group corporate services director Martyn Jones. “This certification builds on our core values and sends a clear message to our customers that we are committed to promoting ethical standards.”
The Humane Cosmetics Standard demands that no animal testing is conducted or commissioned for products or ingredients at any stage of the development or manufacturing process.
