Morrisons has started rolling out LED lighting to a further 80 stores after a successful trial cut electricity bills across its shopping aisles by 53%.

Morrisons had originally given up on the idea of retrofitting LED into older stores because ceilings were too high to provide effective lighting using LEDs.

But head of energy Stuart Kirk said the quality of the lamps installed by LED specialists Minimise were suitable for different sized stores.
