More Brazilian meat will go into Moy Park's supply chain as part of plans by parent company Marfrig to make its European operations more efficient.

In a sales update last week, Brazilian business Marfrig said it had been working on improving efficiency and best practice since moving into the European market last year.

"Marfrig remains focused on increasing the supply of poultry from the Brazil units for the production of processed and prepared products and the sale of cooked and sliced beef products through the Europe division (Moy Park)," it stated.

Last month, Moy Park revealed that its parent company had plans to grow the Northern Irish division but refused to confirm whether more imported meat would be used.

Marfrig reported a £69m global profit for the third quarter, reversing an £18m net loss in the same period last year.
