Dairy giant Müller has been left red-faced after using a picture of Wiltshire to promote its Shropshire dairy roots.
The German-owned supplier posted a video of the Wiltshire village of Castle Combe on its website to accompany the strapline ‘Welcome to Shropshire: The UK home of Muller Dairy’.
The gaffe was spotted by the local tourist board, Visit Wiltshire.
“We were rather bemused, but also quite delighted, when we spotted unmistakable moving images of Castle Combe,” said Bryn Jones, marketing manager at Visit Wiltshire.
Müller MD Gharry Eccles played down the mistake and looked to talk up Muller’s local links. But workers at the Shropshire site had a different take on the matter.
“It’s quite hilarious on one hand but quite a big cock-up on the other,” one staff member told the Daily Telegraph.
