Müller Dairy UK is seeking a new sales director following the promotion of Colin Smith to general manager of the yoghurt giant's operations in Verona, Italy.
Smith has been sales director for Müller Dairy's British division since 2006, when he first joined the company.
He was credited with developing sales and customer relations across all UK retail channels and will be relocating to Italy to take up his new role, which is effective from 1 May.
Prior to Müller Dairy, Smith spent three years as sales director for grocery at Stella Artois and Becks owner AB InBev. During his time at the global brewer, Smith gained international experience as a member of one of the brewer's global development teams. He started his career in the food and drink industry in 1994 as a development manager for Mars.
"Colin has made a tremendous contribution to the UK business and the success he has achieved here has been recognised at our head office in Germany," said Stewart Gilliland, CEO at Müller Dairy. "While we are sorry to see him move on, the role he has been offered in Italy is a tremendous opportunity for him to develop his international career and we are delighted that he will be remaining within the Müller Group."
Smith replaces Pietro Rognini, who had been at Müller Group for 15 years and is taking up a new advisory role within the group.
Müller Corner remains the UK's biggest selling yoghurt and recorded a 6.8% growth to £227.9m over the past year [Nielsen 52 w/e 3 October].
