Sainsbury's and Waitrose have followed Tesco's lead and increased the price of four pints of milk to £1.49 [BrandView.co.uk].
As in Tesco, the 24p rise applies to whole, skimmed and semi-skimmed variants of Sainsbury's and Waitrose's own-label milk.
Tesco raised the price of milk from £1.25 to £1.49 on 31 May. It said at the time it was "proud to pay dairy farmers the highest price since the launch of the Tesco Sustainable Dairy Group four years ago".
As The Grocer went to press, Morrisons and Asda were selling milk for £1.25.
