Adam Margolin, head of marketing support at Spar UK, on cheese, Megan Fox and crocodile salad
What was your first-ever job? Packing boxes in a warehouse.
You've got 25 words to describe your career. Three years on Old El Paso, two years on Hula Hoops, Twiglets and Mini Cheddars and now Spar. A great and varied ride.
How do you describe your job to your mates? I try to avoid it as they all start debating their favourite ads! But if pushed, I see brand/marketing management as rather like conducting an orchestra where the goal is to make sure that people play well together with the resulting sound being beautiful.
What is the worst job you've ever had? Selling programmes at sporting events while at university in the US. The silver lining was that I could watch the games but it was a thankless task.
If you could change one thing in grocery what would it be? I would like to see more innovation.
What is the most rewarding part of your job? Receiving positive feedback from work I have been a part of, whether that is TV advertising, people buying products or successful school sports days.
What is the least rewarding part? Politics. At times it is tedious.
If you didn't work in grocery where would you work? I quite fancy working in sports marketing.
What's your best interview tip? Count to three before answering the question. Answer the question and stop. If the interviewer wants to know more, let them ask.
What was your worst job interview? Birds Eye. I decided through the process that I didn't want to work there and they figured it out.
Where do you hope to be in five years? Marketing director for the Football Association preparing for the 2018 World Cup in England.
If you were allowed one dream perk what would it be? Travel to exotic countries.
What is your motto in life? Always try to find new cheese.
What did you want to be when you were a kid? A superhero of some form.
What's your favourite movie and why? Top Gun is a classic, Life of Brian and Ace Ventura for comedies and The Shawshank Redemption.
Do you have any phobias? I am not good with blood.
Which celebrity would you pick to join your staff? Megan Fox maybe?
What's the weirdest thing you've eaten? Probably crocodile salad but emu sausages, ostrich steak and springbok aren't far behind.
What animal best reflects your personality? A monkey - mobile, cheeky, loud, fun!
