London online delivery service My Delivery Cab has launched a new app to track its part-time delivery drivers as it gears up to recruit more businesses and expand into new areas.
The Balham-based company, which launched last year, delivers restaurant food, wine, groceries and fresh meat from 25 local businesses, offering delivery within an hour for an average fee of £3 for homes within a two-mile radius.
It said the app, which drivers use to update it on their movements, would allow it to more efficiently track the whereabouts of drivers and process information on orders electronically.
“We are pretty much able to deliver any product that fits in a car or a motorbike and we hope the app will help make our deliveries more efficient,” said operations director Mitesh Patel.
The company is now looking to expand its service to other parts of South West London and is talking to small independent traders and larger operators.
“Our ultimate aim is to have as many types of businesses as possible in each area so that customers have a wide range of local shops to order from and have immediately delivered,” said Patel.
