A new natural sugar substitute made from a Mexican plant claims to banish mood swings and cut calories.

Agave Nectar has a 76% level of fructose, as well as a low GI content. It is also lower in calories yet 25% sweeter than sugar. The Groovy Food Company is importing the sweetener, which is made from the juice of Blue Weber Agave plants.

A 250ml bottle has an rsp of £2.95 and will be on sale in Tesco and Waitrose.
