Sainsbury in Durham produced not only the cheapest basket but attentive staff and a massive promotion of the new Nectar loyalty card.
It was Hardys wine, which it sold at 81p less than Asda, that brought in Sainsbury's basket at 11p cheaper.
Morrisons impressed our shopper with a special display of fresh fish and the chance to win free fish for a year' in support of Seafood Week. Staff were busy stacking in the aisles, either because of a lack of night filling or high turnover.
Waitrose's only store in Cornwall was clean and spacious with very "pleasant" staff, but it double-charged for Penguins.
Our shopper in Safeway, Peterborough, found the store layout unusual, with bakery the first section and the butcher the last. Here too a rogue item crept onto the receipt.
Somerfield is on a roll after last week's two full baskets  in Scotland and the north of England  and now one in the Midlands. The small store in West Bridgeford used to be a Kwik Save and reopened last year as a Somerfield.
Staff at Tesco's Port Solent store were few on the ground and unfriendly when approached. In addition many empty shelves were in evidence.
At the Co-op in Glasgow staff were helpful and polite, but a deal on fish fingers had depleted its stocks.
