Nestlé has added four new lines to its Garden Gourmet meat alternative brand, including a first smoked ham alternative targeting sandwich and salad occasions.
The brand – which was relaunched by Nestlé in the UK last year – has launched a Chicken Style Chargrilled Bites line (rsp: £3/175g), a Vegan Chicken Style Pieces SKU (rsp: £2.75/160g) and a Chicken Style Breaded Mini Fillets line (rsp: £3/190g), in addition to the Smoked Ham Style Slices (rsp: £2.25/100g).
The chicken alternative lines are made using either rehydrated soya protein or a combination of soya and wheat protein, with the ham-style slices made from pea and faba bean protein.
The NPD is available at selected Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons stores, joining Garden Gourmet’s existing Sensational Burger and Sensational Sausage SKUs.
Nestlé said the brand was now also available at 800 Premier Inn hotels and their 400 associated Whitbread restaurants on both their breakfast menu and as a plant-based alternative to the sausage & mash in selected restaurants.
“We believe giving meat-free eating a go should be super easy and simply delicious, so we are delighted to be able to bring to market our fantastic range of meat alternative deli and chicken-style products,” said Garden Gourmet senior brand manager Laura Mack.
“We are constantly striving to provide our fans with delicious vegan and vegetarian alternatives and these products are great for food lovers looking for more meat-free poultry options and those who want to include more vegan and vegetarian food at lunchtime.”
