Nestlé has added a trio of Quality Street truffle boxes – the first completely new Quality Street chocolates in some 85 years.
The range, called Intrigue, comprises three flavours: Salted Caramel, Praline and Orange.
Intrigue took “the essence of Quality Street and added a contemporary twist”, said Nestlé, combining elements such as praline, caramel and fruit with a “delicious truffle centre”.
Salted Caramel and Praline will roll into Morrisons and Asda from the beginning of March. Orange, meanwhile, will be an Asda exclusive (rsp: £5/200g).
Nestlé said the Salted Caramel flavour paid tribute to the Mackintosh caramel toffee, while Praline was inspired by Quality Street varieties the Purple One and Green Triangle. Orange provided a “tantalising burst of citrus”, like its Quality Street counterparts Orange Crunch and Orange Creme.
Quality Street brand manager Rebecca Holt said Quality Street was a much-loved UK brand and “we know many fans would love to enjoy more of it all year round”.
“We think this new product is very special. We hope it will delight Quality Street fans as well as introduce new customers to the brand.”
Sales of Quality Street were up £4.7m last year, growing 6% to £8.6m, on volumes up 3.2% [Nielsen 52 w/e 7 September 2019].
