Nestlé, the world’s largest food manufacturer, is to set up a new technology hub to encourage innovation in its drinks business.

The innovation centre, which will be based at the company’s R&D base in Singapore, will open at the start of 2011. It will focus on developing new product concepts for the company’s beverages business, including its flagship Nescafe coffee brand.

“Nestlé has a strong and growing business in coffee mixes worldwide,” the company said in a statement.

“This business is especially strong in the Asia Pacific region and is expected to continue to grow over the coming years.”
