United Biscuits and cereal maker Jordans are the companies to have signed a supply deal through a new £18m palm oil processing plant in Liverpool.
The new facility on Liverpool docks starts production within the next month and would meet the demand for fully traceable palm oil, said New Britain Palm Oil, the company behind the £18m site.
New Britain claimed the oil would be traced to the tree it came from and has already secured several multimillion-pound supply deals, including with McVities owner United Biscuits and Jordans.
The facility will be supplied by the company’s plantations in Papua New Guinea.
“We are confident that the refinery will attract similar end-users who value the attributes of refined traceable palm oil that is produced sustainably and certified accordingly,” said a spokesman.
