Off licence giant First Quench, which operates 2,500 outlets under the Wine Rack, Threshers, Bottoms Up and Victoria Wines fascias, has appointed David Williams chief executive.
Williams joins from Burger King Europe where, as president of the Diageo subsidiary, he successfully turned round the fortunes of the retail brand.
Before Burger King, Williams worked in senior positions for PepsiCo and Whitbread and was chairman of the Slug and Lettuce group.
Guy Hands, managing director of Nomura's principal finance group, said: "His appointment underlines our belief in recruiting the best people to run the businesses in which we invest."
Williams succeeds Graham Frost, who steps down this month after steering First Quench through its acquisition by Nomura International in November.
