Brown Forman is increasing the weight behind its Fetzer and Bonterra wine brands in the UK.
Fetzer is adding two dual varietals at £5.99 which will fit in just below its premium varietal range. The Chardonnay/Voignier and Zinfandel/Shiraz are being presented to trade buyers and should be on shelf by May.
The company has also added a Syrah Rosé to its Valley Oaks range.
This was sold through First Quench last year and will now be available to the rest of the trade. This wine will retail at £5.99 and be promoted down to £4.99.
Brown Forman's regional director for Europe David Cox said: "We want this to compete with the interesting rosés coming out of Australia. I think there is a real future for the category and retailers are looking to develop it. More competition with this style of wine will be healthy and consumers need to see them on the wine fixture."
The company recently guaranteed the future expansion of Bonterra by purchasing the 378 acre biodynamic McNab Ranch in Mendocini County. A new winery will be built on the ranch to support Bonterra.
The Fetzer name has come off the Bonterra label and it is marketed as a standalone.
Cox said: "We believe it can grow in its own right. It is the definitive organic wine, now with the interest in all things organic the emphasis is shifting. I think there is more that could be done for it. I would like to see the major multiples do more on organic wines."
Cox plans to increase the promotional activity behind the brand with a number of instore initiatives.
