Marks and Spencer has launched a range of organic apples and pears. They include Cox, Red Falstaff, Kid's Orange, Red Pippin and Conference, according to newly appointed fruit buyer Gary Lindsell. Lindsell expects at least part of this range to be on offer until March, and at a fixed price. Meeting growers at the Marks and Spencer stand at the National Fruit Show, Lindsell said that he believed his company had dedicated more shelf space to English top fruit than any other retailer. Meanwhile, over the past three years, M&S sales had increased by more than 50%, which represented more than 1.5 million lbs. M&S fruit technologist Andrew Sharp said that newly designed labels had helped to stimulate consumer interest. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
