With the Olympics in Athens due to start in just under one year, visitors to Anuga were treated to innovative snacks using one of Greece’s most popular products - feta cheese.
Feta is best known for its central role in a Greek salad, but Greek company SHM Hellas showcased a range of products ideal for snacking occasions using the goats’ and sheeps’ milk cheese.
They included feta potato cakes called Patata Provato, feta balls in herbs and spices, feta slices in breadcrumbs known as Saganaki and feta fritters with bacon, which won an Anuga top innovation award.
HT Webb market and distribute SHM Hellas’ products in the UK under the Greco brand or for own label.
Product manager Sam Bryant said the new feta snacks were not yet available in the UK, but should hit shelves in the next year.
