Two former Booker men have set up a rival wholesaler, specialising in catering.
Tony Overton, a former regional director for Booker, and Bryan Drew, a former finance director, opened their 30,000 sq ft Hub Wholesale Club in Cheltenham this week.
The outlet aims to recruit 4,000 buying members. Plans are being drawn up for another depot in September, also in the Midlands, said Overton.
“We spotted a gap in the market in Cheltenham because it had no C&C and caterers had been struggling to get the goods they need easily.”
Hub had pre-registered 1,000 customers with applications coming in at a rate of 70 a day.
