Waitrose is to launch a New World Wine Showcase in September, including a selection of new and limited availability wines.
The launch will take place in all of its branches between 4 and 24 September, and it will include 30 new wines, 21 of which have limited availability, as well as a further 20 favourite wines from its existing range.
The additional wines, which were specially chosen by the Waitrose buying team, will be merchandised by country and region, to emphasis the diversity and breadth of the New World, according to the retailer. Tastings will be available in selected branches and a 16-page customer leaflet and shelf barkers will highlight the wines and their regions.
New wines will include Australian wines from the De Bertoli family, deliberately produced in an Italian style, a rosé by New Zealand producer Montana and Spier's Discover Colombard from South Africa.
Waitrose said wines from the New World represented one third of its wine sales.
