Mark Newton has been appointed managing director of the prepared salad producer Florette UK, following the death of former MD Gerald Lacey after a short illness last month (The Grocer, September 4, p68).
Newton was formerly commercial director for the company, which said that he had presided over a series of listing successes and marketing innovations that had turned the brand into one of the leaders in the salad market.
He took up the MD role as Florette announced 26% year-on-year growth. It has also just launched a £3m prime time television advertising campaign to strengthen the brand’s identity after doubling factory production this summer.
On his appointment, Newton said: “I am very proud and honoured to be taking the helm at Florette. Both the company and the brand are synonymous with quality and innovation, a policy which I am delighted to continue.”
