Nichols has appointed Richard Newman as its new chief financial officer and company secretary.
The soft drinks maker said Newman would join its board as a director from 29 January 2024, before becoming CFO and company secretary in March 2024 after the publication of its results for the year ended 31 December 2023.
David Taylor, the company’s interim CFO and company secretary, would step down from the board at the same time, “following a smooth transition of responsibilities”, Nichols said.
Newman would bring “extensive and relevant UK public company financial experience” to the CFO role, Nichols said.
The former Cadbury group financial controller has also held senior roles at Natural Express Group and DS Smith. Most recently, he was employed as CFO at tissue converter and toilet roll supplier Accrol Group Holdings.
“Following a thorough search process, we are delighted that Richard will be joining the business and the board next year,” said Nichols non-executive chair Liz McMeikan. “Richard brings a wealth of highly relevant experience to the group and I have every confidence that he will make a substantial contribution to the group’s continued development and growth.”
Alongside the news of Newman’s appointment, Nichols also announced the departure of James Nichols as non-executive director.
After 18 years at the company, Nichols had decided to pursue a fresh challenge, the Vimto maker said.
“On behalf of the Board I would like to thank James for his significant contribution over the past 18 years and we wish him well and every success for the future,” McMeikan added.
