Tatum and Masters will both report directly to CEO Ken McMeikan

Moto Hospitality has appointed two new directors - Nick Tatum and Steve Masters.

Tatum joins the UK’s largest motorway service areas operator in the newly created role of chief customer officer from Superdry, where he was director of global retail.

He was previously strategy, change and operations director of the UK commercial food division at Tesco.

Masters, who becomes Moto’s property director, previously worked in senior property roles for Asda, Disney, Gap, Thresher and more recently Wyevale Garden Centres.

Both will report directly to CEO Ken McMeikan.

“Nick is joining in this newly created role, which will focus our efforts on providing the best possible customer experience for motorway users across the UK,” said McMeikan.

“Steve’s vast property experience, combined with his proven ability to identify growth opportunities, will further develop our existing property portfolio and new site pipeline.”

Attracting such “talent” into the business was a great endorsement of Moto’s strategy and ambition because they brought with them a wealth of experience that would be invaluable to fulfil the group’s growth aspirations, said McMeikan.

Tatum described Moto as “a fantastic business with real growth opportunities” while Masters said it was a business “with brilliant people and brands as well as exciting growth ambitions”.

Moto operates more than 60 locations in the UK, with more than 300 branded restaurants, shops and forecourts.

It has partnerships with Marks & Spencer, Greggs, Costa Coffee, Burger King, WH Smith and BP.

Its newest motorway service area is scheduled to open next year on the M6 at Rugby, Leicestershire.
