A Nisa petrol forecourt store in Guildford is undergoing a £750,000 expansion that will include a standalone vape store.
The expansion will take the Falcon Garage store from a 1,500 sq ft trading area to 4,000 sq ft.
The 450 sq ft vape store, which was made possible when an adjacent office block became vacant, will have its own entrance.
It will also be accessible from within the main forecourt shop via a sliding door.
“We are having to make the vape store self-contained because people want to test the products,” said Falcon Garage business development manager Gary Kemp.
“The mist will be extracted through the ceiling. We don’t want the mist or bubblegum smell coming into the store.”
The unit would be managed by its own staff, Kemp said.
The forecourt will also include an in-store florist concession, a 1,500 sq ft food to go operation with in-store bakery and a health food section focusing on wholefoods and proteins.
The grocery department will be overhauled in a modular format with separate fruit & vegetable and meat markets housed in bespoke displays.
The rear of the store will have a 1,000 sq ft off-licence department.
Kemp said the aim was to have a grand opening by Easter. The work was taking place in three phases so the store would not have to close, he added.
“We have an affluent customer base here and I believe what we are going to be offering to them will be really well received.”
Owner Mayank Shah added: “I have visited many stores to look at how this is being done elsewhere and looking for inspiration because I want to get the look and feel perfect.
“The store layout is so important and what I am thinking about is something that will last into the future - the way people will shop in years to come.”
