Nisa retailers have saved 100,000 meals through Too Good To Go, equating to 250 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
A total of 300 stores helped to reach the milestone, which are collectively stopping over 1,000 meals from going to waste each week.
The symbol group said the app was presenting retailers with a useful tool to significantly reduce the amount of food waste in store, while offering the community a cheaper alternative for food amid the cost of living crisis.
“Every Nisa store that has so far partnered with Too Good To Go have given positive feedback about how simple the app is to use and the impact on the local community,” said Ian Bacon, Nisa’s lead for the partnership with Too Good To Go.
“We are all very aware of the cost-of-living crisis and the Too Good To Go app is one way that Nisa retailers can offer support to their shoppers really effectively.”
Nisa’s partnership with Too Good To Go initially began in 2019. The surplus food app lets users search for stores taking part in the scheme that have unsold produce. They then purchase a ‘magic bag’ of food at risk of going to waste and collect it at an allotted time.
