Sainsbury’s board of directors has cleared a potential conflict of interest surrounding CEO Justin King and his 18-year-old son Jordan.
Jordan King is an up-and-coming racing driver and his growing success has attracted sponsorship from companies that supply Sainsbury’s, such as King of Shaves and 2 Sisters Food Group.
This sponsorship is arranged by Jordan King through his own company, 42 Racing.
In Sainsbury’s annual report, released last week, Sainsbury’s board of directors said it was satisfied that “Justin King has no direct involvement in the trading relationship between Sainsbury’s and any supplier who may have an interest in 42 Racing. There is no conflict of interest regarding these arrangements.”
Jordan King has been racing since the age of 11. He has progressed from karting into the Formula Renault UK 2.0 series, finishing eighth last year.
