CWS is trialling a non food home shopping service in 50 Co-op stores this summer as part of a drive to emphasise its community retailing strengths.
Run in partnership with mail order group Findel, the catalogue will sell houseware, electrical, clothing and gardening goods. There are no plans to extend the trial to food delivery. Customers will pay for delivery. The catalogue will be promoted using instore and direct mail leaflets. Holders of a Co-op Dividend card will get a 5% discount.
Marketing and planning manager for the non-food retail division Tony Robertson said: "The aim of the trial is to gauge the demand for non-food home shopping."
