North South Wines has launched an alcohol-free sparkling wine under its La Gioiosa Prosecco brand.
La Gioiosa 0.0% is made with 100% Glera grapes which are soft-pressed and placed into temperature-controlled tanks, where they remain until being used to produce the drink. CO2 is gently added to “ensure a fine perlage”, said North South Wines.
It said the wine was “lower in calories than most zero-alcohol offerings” and could fit into a health-conscious lifestyle, containing 22 calories per 100ml.
It has launched online and will hit Ocado in September (rsp: £6/750ml).
The launch builds on North South Wines’ portfolio of low & no drinks, it said, which includes Black Tower Low Alcohol and De Bortoli Very Cautious One.
North South Wines MD Kim Wilson said the supplier was expecting consumers to reassess their way of life post-lockdown and that “wellness will be a key priority”.
“We believe there are cross references with the La Gioiosa shopper, who might want to limit their prosecco intake but still have a rewarding La Gioiosa experience,” she added.
