A Norwich craft brewer with listings in the mults has been rescued from the brink of collapse by a buyout from private investors.
Redwell Brewing, whose beers are stocked in Tesco and Aldi, called in the administrators after a “turbulent year”. It has already been bought by a team of local investors, trading as Three Arches Brewing Ltd, for an undisclosed amount.
Company founders Amy Hancock and Patrick Fisher have left the business, with Hancock calling the administration “the only way to continue brewing, save jobs and fulfil customer orders”.
It had been “an extremely difficult decision to make”, she said. “I’ve put everything into Redwell and will walk away with nothing, but I desperately wanted to see the name live on.
“I’m still massively proud of the brand I co-founded and felt the most important thing was to protect the jobs of our incredibly loyal staff, by securing the future of the business, even though this means it’s no longer mine.”
The new owners would “ensure the beer and brand lives on, can fulfil orders and look forward to a bright future”, according to a spokeswoman for the buyers.
