Egg supplier Oakland Farm Eggs is planning to spend £5m on a new facility in Wales as part of its bid to become the second-biggest egg packer in the UK.
Oakland will invest £5m at a site in Ruabon, Wrexham, after increasingly receiving requests from Welsh suppliers to pack their eggs.
"Logistically we would rather purchase, pack and distribute Welsh eggs in Wales rather than bring them to Shropshire," said a spokeswoman.
Oakland is hoping the Welsh Assembly will support the project.
